Wasim murder case: Lawrence Bishnoi gang claims responsibility, police point to personal rivalry
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Wasim murder case in East Delhi's Shastri Park area has taken a new and sensational turn. While the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder through social media, claiming that they carried out the crime on behalf of gangster Hashim Baba, the police investigation tells a different story. The police, taking swift action, have claimed to have solved the case within a few hours. By arresting two brothers for the murder, the police have clarified that this incident is not a part of any gang war, but the result of an old rivalry.
According to the incident, on the intervening night of December 30th and 31st, police received information from Jag Pravesh Chand (JPC) Hospital in Shastri Park. Hospital authorities reported that a young man was brought in with serious stab wounds, and doctors declared him dead. The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Waseem, a resident of Buland Masjid, Shastri Park. Initial police investigations revealed that Waseem was fatally attacked near the loop behind DDA Park. As soon as news of the murder spread, panic gripped the area.
To solve the case, a special team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Manjeet Tomar, SHO of Shastri Park police station. The forensic team collected crucial evidence from the scene, and police examined footage from nearby CCTV cameras. Based on technical surveillance and information from local informants, police arrested two brothers—26-year-old Shakir and 22-year-old Islam alias Border—both residents of the Buland Masjid area. During police interrogation, both accused confessed to their crime. They stated that they had a long-standing dispute with Wasim and, due to this enmity, stabbed him to death. Based on the accused's identification, police also recovered the knife used in the murder.
