New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): In a significant decision regarding health safety, the central government has taken strict action against the popular painkiller Nimesulide. The government has banned the drug's manufacture with immediate effect.

According to the orders issued, new limits have been set not only on the manufacture but also on the sale of this drug. The government has also completely banned the sale of all oral formulations (medications/tablets) containing more than 100 milligrams (100 mg) of nimesulide.

This decision was made with patient safety in mind, as high doses carry the risk of serious adverse health effects. It's worth noting that nimesulide is commonly used to relieve severe pain and fever.
