1,300 Villages Submerged as Sutlej Water Level Rises in Punjab
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu) – The flood havoc is still continuing in Punjab. The rain is not stopping in most of the cities and the water level of the rivers is rising. The roofs of kutcha houses are falling due to the rain. A girl died when the roof of a poor family's house collapsed in Sathiyala town of Amritsar. Kuldeep Singh told that my brother Rajwinder Singh's family was sitting below the house and due to continuous rain the roof of the house collapsed and 11-year-old Ramanjit Kaur died on the spot and her mother Ramanjit Kaur and her sister were seriously injured. They were admitted to the government hospital Baba Bakala Sahib.
Due to the rising water level of Sutlej in Phillaur, water has entered Shri Shani Temple upto 2 feet. District administration officials are present near Sutlej river. According to government data, 1312 villages have been affected so far. Orange alert for rain is in effect even today. Meanwhile, the water level of Bhakra has remained just 3 feet below the danger mark. Pong Dam: The water level of the dam was recorded at 1390.63 feet at 6 am. The inflow of water in the dam is 96,777 cusecs, while the outflow of water is 95,836 cusecs.
