Phagwara(The Uttam Hindu): In a brazen robbery, unknown thieves have looted approximately ₹29 lakh from a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM in Khajurla village near Phagwara. The incident has sent shockwaves through the village, raising serious concerns about the security measures in place.

The robbery occurred at night, with the thieves using a gas cutter to break into the ATM and steal the cash. The villagers discovered the damaged ATM in the morning and alerted the authorities.

The police have launched an investigation, but their efforts are being hindered by the lack of CCTV footage and accurate information from the bank management. "It's surprising that the bank hasn't provided us with the CCTV footage or the exact amount of cash in the ATM," said DSP Bharat Bhushan Saini.

The police are urging the bank officials to cooperate and provide the necessary records to aid in the investigation.
