Anurag Dhanda attends Kabaddi Cup in native village, urges support for sports
Kaithal (The Uttam Hindu): Anurag Dhanda, national media in-charge of Aam Aadmi Party, attended the Jai Baba Khairnath Kabaddi Cup-1 in his native village Dhanauri as the chief guest. The event was organised by the Jai Baba Khairnath Stadium Committee, where villagers and organisers welcomed him warmly and honoured him with a memento.
While watching the matches on the soil of his native village, Dhanda said he felt emotionally connected to the place and that seeing young players compete reminded him of his childhood days. He said Haryana has a strong sporting tradition and that athletes from the state have brought recognition to the country in major international events, including the Olympics.
Addressing the players, he said sports are not only about competition but also about discipline, dedication and positive energy. He stressed that with proper opportunities, playgrounds, modern facilities and adequate nutrition, young athletes can achieve greater success and bring pride to the state and the nation. He also urged the state government to strengthen sports infrastructure.
Dhanda said sports play an important role in keeping youth away from drug addiction, adding that young people who remain active in sports are less likely to fall into harmful habits. He praised the initiatives of the Punjab government in promoting sports and running anti-drug campaigns, saying such efforts are giving youth a positive direction and can serve as an example for other states.
He assured the youth of Dhanauri of his continued support in promoting sports and said efforts would be made to ensure that talented players at the village level get proper guidance, resources and opportunities. Appreciating the event, he said such programmes help in identifying rural talent and also strengthen social unity.
Village Sarpanch Kapil Dhanda, Dilbag Singh, and several villagers along with members of the Baba Khairnath Organising Committee were also present on theoccasion.
