Congress takes major action in Punjab, expels Navjot Kaur Sidhu from the party
Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former cricketer and former state Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been expelled from the Congress party. This was confirmed by former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel.
Bhupesh Baghel arrived at the residence of former minister Dr. Rajkumar Verka in Amritsar on Tuesday. Speaking to the media, he stated that Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu was already suspended from the party, but has now been expelled. However, he also clarified that no official letter regarding the expulsion has been issued by the party. However, just a few days ago, Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu publicly announced her intention to leave the Congress party. Following this, the party leadership has taken this action against her.
It's worth noting that a few days ago, Navjot Kaur met with the Governor in Chandigarh. When the issue of Sidhu's appointment as Chief Minister came up, she stated that she didn't have a briefcase full of 500 crore rupees to become Chief Minister. She declared that she would only be active if Congress nominated him as its CM face. This led to accusations against Congress of taking 500 crore rupees to appoint someone as Chief Minister. Navjot Kaur didn't stop there; she also accused Vading and Randhawa of selling tickets. Following this, Sidhu was suspended on December 8th.
