Ludhiana murder accused arrested at Delhi airport after deportation from West Asia, marking major breakthrough in case.
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Police have arrested Amritpal Singh Mehron, the main accused in the murder of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari also known as Kamal Bhabhi. He was detained at Indira Gandhi International Airport after being deported from the Middle East, where he had fled following the crime.
According to police officials, the accused was tracked through coordinated efforts by the Counter Intelligence Wing’s Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell along with central agencies. The incident dates back to June 2025, when he and his associates allegedly kidnapped and murdered the victim before leaving her body in a car outside a hospital in Bathinda.
Police said the other accused involved in the case have already been arrested. Amritpal Singh Mehron was taken into custody upon arrival in Delhi on April 10, 2026 and is currently being interrogated. Further legal proceedings in the case are underway.
