Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): In a major relief measure aimed at supporting economically weaker households, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the launch of the ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme following an important state Cabinet meeting. The initiative is designed to ensure that poor families across Punjab have access to essential and nutritious food supplies.

Punjab, known as the food bowl of India, will now extend additional support to underprivileged families whose kitchens often remain empty due to lack of resources. The Chief Minister stated that the scheme will directly benefit nearly 4 million families across the state.

What Will Be Included in the ‘Meri Rasoi’ Kit?

Under the scheme, the government will continue providing wheat as before. In addition, a special food kit will be distributed to improve protein intake and overall nutrition. The kit will include:

2 kg black chickpeas (dal)

2 kg sugar

1 litre edible cooking oil

1 kg salt

200 grams turmeric

Chief Minister’s Statement

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said, “We want to ensure that no poor family in Punjab is deprived of nutritious food. This scheme has been designed keeping people’s needs in mind so that every household kitchen remains well-stocked.”

Key Highlights of the Scheme

The benefit will be provided to Blue Card (P-Ni Card) holder families.

Along with wheat, additional essential kitchen items will be supplied free of cost or at subsidized rates.

The scheme is expected to significantly reduce the monthly food expenses of low-income households.

The ‘Meri Rasoi’ scheme marks a significant step by the Punjab government to strengthen food security and improve nutrition among the state’s most vulnerable families.
