Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A major revelation has emerged in the case of the suspicious death of Aqeel Akhtar, son of former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Mustafa. A syringe mark was found approximately 7 centimeters below the elbow on Akhtar's right hand, according to an internal post-mortem report.
Aqeel Akhtar's initial post-mortem report revealed that he was addicted to drugs, but did not specify the type of drugs he was using or whether they were injected. However, several syringe marks have now been found on Aqeel's arms, which are commonly seen on the arms of any drug addict.
Based on the preliminary post-mortem report, the Haryana Police Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by ACP Vikram Nehra, has launched an investigation. Aqeel Akhtar died late on October 16th at his residence in MDC, Panchkula. The family initially claimed the death was due to a drug overdose. On October 21st, an FIR was filed against former Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Mustafa and his wife, former Punjab Cabinet Minister Razia Sultana, in connection with the suspicious death of their son, Aqeel Akhtar.
A video of Aqeel Akhtar surfaced on August 27th, in which he alleged an illicit relationship between his father and wife and accused his family members of plotting to murder him. In the video, he also leveled serious allegations against his mother, Razia Sultana, and sister. Based on this video and allegations, his neighbor, Shamsuddin Chaudhary, who lives in Malerkotla, submitted a complaint to the Panchkula Police Commissioner. Acting on this complaint, the Mata Mansa Devi police station in Panchkula has registered a case under sections 103(1) and 61 of the IPC against four people, including former DGP Mohammad Mustafa, his wife, Razia Sultana, daughter-in-law, and daughter, and has initiated an investigation.
Aqeel Akhtar, 35, son of former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Mustafa, was taken to the hospital around 9.30 pm on October 16, but he had died by then, following which the police registered a case and started investigation.
