Tokyo (The Uttam Hindu): In a shocking turn of events at the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo, India’s golden boy and Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra delivered a below-par performance and crashed out of the javelin final. The heartbreak was evident as millions of Indian fans watched him fail to secure a spot in the top-6.

Chopra, considered India’s biggest hope, struggled with his rhythm throughout the competition. His best throw of 84.03m fell far short of expectations. Out of five attempts, he managed only three valid throws while committing two fouls.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s ace javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem also disappointed, finishing outside the top-6 with a best throw of 82.73m.

Neeraj Chopra’s Attempts in the Final:

1st Throw: 83.65m

2nd Throw: 84.03m

3rd Throw: Foul

4th Throw: 82.86m

5th Throw: Foul

While the two giants faltered, India’s rising star Sachin Yadav stunned the athletics world with a career-best performance. Yadav threw 86.27m, finishing 4th place—agonizingly close to a bronze medal, yet giving India new hope for the future.

Medal Winners in Men’s Javelin Final:

Gold: Walcott (Trinidad & Tobago) – 88.16m

Silver: Peters (Grenada) – 87.38m

Bronze: Curtis Thompson (USA) – 86.67m
