Artemis II returns safely from Moon, NASA makes history again
NASA’s Artemis II mission successfully returns from the Moon, with all four astronauts safely evacuated after landing.
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): NASA has successfully completed its historic Artemis II mission, marking a major milestone in space exploration. After a 10-day journey around the Moon, the four astronauts returned safely to Earth aboard the Orion spacecraft and landed in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego. The crew included Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen.
The capsule re-entered Earth’s atmosphere and made a safe splashdown using its parachute system. Recovery teams quickly reached the site and safely evacuated all four astronauts after a detailed extraction process. They were then transported by helicopter to the USS John P Murtha, where they were scheduled to undergo routine medical examinations following the mission.
According to NASA, the crew completed a journey of nearly 690,000 miles, making it one of the longest distances traveled by astronauts. The mission is being seen as a major achievement, as it marks the first human deep space mission beyond low Earth orbit in more than five decades. The success of Artemis II is expected to play a crucial role in paving the way for future lunar and deep space missions.
