Tragic Road Accident: Tempo Falls into Gorge, 3 Dead, Several Critically Injured – Rescue Ops On

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident rocked Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday morning, leaving three people dead and several others critically injured. The mishap took place on the Doda-Barath road near Ponda area, where a tempo traveler carrying multiple passengers skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.

On receiving the information, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot, aided by locals to retrieve bodies and pull out the injured from the wreckage. All injured passengers have been shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda for treatment. Authorities fear that the death toll may rise as some victims remain in a critical condition.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed the accident and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. Taking to social media platform ‘X’, he wrote, “A private tempo met with an accident near Barath village, about 20-25 km from Doda town. So far, three casualties have been reported while four others are seriously injured. Necessary medical aid is being provided, and the DC is personally monitoring the situation.” Rescue operations are still underway as officials continue to search the area for any missing passengers.
