Israel Approves Plan to Capture Gaza City, War Enters New Phase
Tel Aviv(The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas has taken a dramatic new turn. In the early hours of Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that the country’s security cabinet has approved a plan to capture Gaza City. The decision came after a marathon meeting that lasted from Thursday night until Friday morning. Netanyahu earlier revealed that Israel aims to regain control over the Gaza region and later hand it over to pro-Israel Arab allies.
The conflict, which has already claimed thousands of lives and left most of Gaza in ruins, continues to escalate. Basic facilities are almost nonexistent, and Israeli airstrikes remain relentless. Only a few areas in Gaza have not yet been ordered to evacuate or turned into Israeli buffer zones.
Tensions intensified in Israel after a disturbing video surfaced showing hostage Evyatar David being forced to dig his own grave. Israel has accused Hamas of treating hostages inhumanely — starving them while its fighters enjoy proper meals. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar further alleged that Hamas is seizing humanitarian aid entering Gaza, reselling it, and profiting from the crisis.
The war began on October 7, 2023, after a deadly Hamas attack killed around 1,200 civilians and took 251 hostages. In retaliation, Israel launched an ongoing military campaign that has reduced much of Gaza to rubble.
