Mumbai man saves mother & child: Vikas Bedre's bravery earns him 'Real-Life Rancho' tag
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : A remarkable example of humanity and courage was witnessed in Mumbai. Late at night at Ram Mandir Railway Station, a pregnant woman suddenly went into labor. A young man traveling on the same train, using his presence of mind, saved the woman's life without any medical help. He consulted his doctor friend via video call and performed the delivery on the train itself. Both mother and child are now completely healthy.
According to reports, at around 12:40 a.m. on Thursday night, a young man named Vikas Dilip Bedre was traveling from Goregaon to the airport. A pregnant woman was also on the train with him, who suddenly went into labor. Passengers immediately pulled the chain and stopped the train at Ram Mandir station, but there was no medical facility available there.
The doctor conducted the delivery over a video call
. The situation was critical. Vikas immediately called his female doctor friend, Devika. The doctor gave him step-by-step instructions over the video call—and Vikas performed the delivery on the train itself. Shortly after, the baby's cry resonated, and all the passengers rejoiced. Famous musician Manjeet Dhillon shared the video of this incident on his social media account and wrote, "That moment will be remembered for a lifetime. The woman's condition was critical, and the ambulance was taking a long time to arrive. That's when Vikas showed courage. It felt as if God had sent him there. He listened carefully to everything the doctor said over the video call and did exactly what he said. The baby was half outside and half inside—but he handled the situation brilliantly."
On social media, people compared Vikas to Aamir Khan's character "Rancho "
from the film "3 Idiots," who used his medical knowledge to perform a delivery during a difficult time. Vikas's bravery and humanitarian gesture have won the hearts of Mumbaikars—and now the railway administration has begun preparations to honor him.
