Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said he met President Donald Trump at the White House and noted that Trump deeply values the relationship between the United States and India.

Sharing details of the meeting after returning briefly to the United States, Gor said in a public message, “Back in the US for a few days. First stop, meeting the President at the White House.”

The ambassador did not disclose specific details of the discussions, and the White House has also not issued any formal statement regarding the meeting. However, a photo shared by Gor indicated that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was also present during the meeting held in the Oval Office.

These remarks come at a time when Washington is dealing with multiple global challenges, including rising tensions in the Middle East, while continuing to prioritize key strategic partnerships.

Gor’s reference to Trump’s personal interest in US-India relations is likely to be closely observed by policymakers and analysts, especially given the expanding scope of cooperation between the two countries. Despite some fluctuations in ties over the past 10 months, Gor has remained actively engaged in strengthening relations between the world’s two largest democracies.

The meeting also reflects ongoing coordination between the White House and its top envoy in New Delhi, as both nations seek alignment on regional and global issues. The United States views India as a key partner in the Indo-Pacific region, with growing cooperation in areas such as maritime security, supply chains, and advanced technologies.

At the same time, both sides have been working to address trade and regulatory differences while maintaining momentum in their strategic partnership
