Musk vs. Trump: Elon Musk Threatens to Launch New Political Party Takes Aim at Trump
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): The world's richest man and Tesla-SpaceX owner Elon Musk has strongly criticized US President Donald Trump's huge tax cut and spending bill. Musk said that the MPs who will support this bill will face defeat in the primary elections next year. Musk called this bill crazy and destructive and called it dangerous for the country.
When this bill was being discussed in the Senate, Musk expressed his displeasure on the social media platform X. He said that the MPs who had promised to reduce government expenditure but supported this bill should feel ashamed. Musk said angrily, "Such MPs will be defeated in the primary next year, even if I have to fight for it till my last breath."
He called this bill so expensive that he called it a "Porky Pig Party" bill. This word is used for wasteful expenditure. Emphasizing the need for a new political party, Musk wrote, "Now the time has come to form a party that really cares about the people." Musk's anger is a reflection of the sourness in his relationship with Trump. Musk had spent about $300 million for Trump's presidential election and he was also the head of the Trump administration's controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In this department, Musk was in charge of cutting government expenses.
Musk says that this bill will further increase the national debt and will ruin all his savings made through DOGE. However, it is not clear how much impact Musk's words will have on the US Congress or how much obstacle it will create in the way of passing the bill. But the Republican Party fears that this dispute between Musk and Trump could become an obstacle in their way to majority in the 2026 midterm elections.
