New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Emmanuel Macron has said that India and France do not want to be completely dependent on the AI models of the US or China. He added that both countries, as well as Europe as a whole, have a shared resolve to achieve strategic autonomy in the field of artificial intelligence.

Macron stressed, "I truly believe that India, France, and Europe share a common passion: we don't want to be completely dependent on a single model from the US or China. We need a comprehensive and balanced model." The French President's statement comes at a time when the global AI race has intensified, with a few large global players dominating the market. Macron urged India, France, and Europe to come together and create a framework that prioritizes technological sovereignty and doesn't blindly rely on any one country or company.

A clear roadmap for self-reliance in AI

Macron stressed the need to build a strong foundation to achieve independence in the field of AI. He said, “We want to ensure that we have adequate data centers and computing capacity. We have to train talent in our countries. It is clearly a question of computing capacity, talent and capital.”

He acknowledged that the US and China are currently ahead in the global AI race, while India and France are lagging behind. However, he expressed confidence that both countries have strong resources and capabilities. Macron said, "We are behind the US and China, but we are in this race. We have many important assets and we remain competitive."
