Iran's President offers apology to neighbors, sparks speculation with surrender remark
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed regret over the attacks on neighboring countries. In a pre-recorded address broadcast on state television, the Iranian President said that Tehran will take steps to prevent such incidents against its neighboring countries. His statement comes at a time when tensions have increased in the region following attacks in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in recent days. However, shortly after this, an explosion took place in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
“Incidents caused by misunderstanding”
President Pezeshkian said that some misunderstandings at the military level were responsible for these attacks. He also clarified that Iran does not want to attack its neighboring countries. However, he also stipulated that if the territory of any neighboring country is used for an attack against Iran, Tehran can retaliate for its own security. According to reports, in recent days, Iran has carried out attacks in some areas of the region in an attempt to target US military bases. Meanwhile, reports of explosions around Dubai airport created an atmosphere of panic in the region.
The Iranian president also responded to the US demand for "unconditional surrender." He stated that Iran will not bow to any pressure. Indeed, Donald Trump recently stated that there is no possibility of diplomatic talks until Iran is prepared to surrender completely. Following this, the rhetoric between the two countries has intensified.
Meanwhile, tensions have also escalated between Iran and Israel. Several loud explosions were heard in Jerusalem on Saturday morning. Reports indicate that missiles fired from Iran forced people to flee to bomb shelters. However, Israeli emergency services have not yet confirmed any casualties. These increasingly tense developments in the Middle East are fueling concerns about instability and security throughout the region.
