Tensions soar: Two US aircraft carriers, destroyers and over 50 jets sent to Middle East amid Iran standoff
Tehran/Washington (The Uttam Hindu): Despite ongoing diplomatic talks between the US and Iran over Tehran's nuclear program, the possibility of war appears to be growing. A report claims that the US has set a date for a potential attack on Iran. It also says that the Pentagon is temporarily withdrawing some personnel from the Middle East in the coming days in anticipation of a possible Iranian retaliation.
According to a report by the American news website Axios, there are fears of a full-scale conflict between the US and Iran, which could last for several weeks. The report says that Israel is also intensifying its preparations for a war situation in the coming days. Sources claim that US President Donald Trump is angry about the issue, and one of his close advisers has expressed a 90 percent chance of military action in the coming weeks.
According to the report, if military action does occur, it will not be limited or symbolic, but could be a massive campaign lasting several weeks. It is being described as even larger than the 12-day Israeli offensive last June. It also suggests that the US and Israel could conduct a joint operation in Iran.
The report also claims that the US has increased its military presence in the Middle East. Currently, two aircraft carriers, 12 warships, hundreds of fighter jets, and numerous air defense systems are deployed. More than 150 US military cargo planes have delivered weapons and ammunition to the Middle East in recent days. Military supplies have also been intensified in the past 24 hours, with more than 50 fighter jets, such as F-35s, F-22s, and F-16s, being sent to the region. This increased military activity has raised global concerns that a major and devastating conflict could erupt in the region.
According to White House sources, President Donald Trump is dissatisfied with Iran's behavior. A senior adviser has predicted a 90 percent chance of military action in the next few weeks. However, some Pentagon officials are still advising a cautious approach. The Trump administration has made it clear that all options are open to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The potential operation is being described as much more extensive than last year's 12-day conflict.
