'Operation Sindoor' Saga Now Part of School Books: NCERT Releases Special Module
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): For the first time, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released a special module on the historic 'Operation Sindoor' of the Indian Air Force. It has been prepared as supplementary material for students of classes III to XII. The aim of this module is to familiarise students not only with India's military capability and security strategy, but also to explain how important a role such operations play in maintaining the peace and integrity of the country.
The released module clearly states that the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir was carried out on the direct orders of Pakistan's military and political leadership. Even though Pakistan has denied its involvement in the attack, this NCERT document states that the attack was part of its conspiracy. In response, the Indian Air Force launched 'Operation Sindoor' and completely destroyed Pakistan's control centers, radars, surface-to-air weapons, runways and aircraft hangars.
The module describes 'Operation Sindoor' not just as a military success but as a step taken to safeguard peace and honour the martyrs. It mentions that this action created a gap in Pakistan's air defence system which was seen by the whole world. It is presented as a military, technological and political success at the same time.
NCERT has released this special material in two phases. Simple and inspiring language has been used for the elementary and middle level (classes 3 to 8), while there is detailed description and analytical content for the higher level (classes 9 to 12). In the module for older children, it has been depicted as a mission of honor and bravery. In this, a dialogue style has been adopted between the teacher and the students, so that the study is not limited to information only, but emotional and moral understanding is also developed.
Experts believe that this step of NCERT will play an important role in increasing awareness of national security among students and strengthening the spirit of patriotism.
