Tokyo/New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Japan has once again surprised everyone in the world of technology. You may have seen washing machines, but now Japan has created a machine that washes people. A video of this unique invention is rapidly going viral on social media, leaving people both surprised and thrilled.

How does this 'human washing machine' work?

A video shared by the Instagram handle @technology demonstrates the machine's unique functionality in detail. While the name 'human washing machine' may sound strange, it's completely safe and comfortable; it doesn't have a rotating drum like most laundry machines. The process is incredibly simple—the user simply lies inside the pod, and the machine begins its work as soon as the lid is closed. It uses 'micro-bubbles' technology, along with water and soap, in a closed compartment, to gently cleanse the skin. Visuals play on an internal screen and soothing music plays throughout for peace of mind. Finally, the machine dries the user from head to toe, leaving them feeling completely refreshed.

Inspired by a 1970 model, this machine was manufactured by the Japanese company Science. The concept isn't entirely new; it's inspired by an early model displayed at the 1970 Osaka World Expo. It's now been relaunched with modern technology and luxury features.

Price and Availability

According to reports, this single machine costs around 60 million yen (in Indian currency, this amount translates to crores (approximately Rs. 3.3 crores), although the viral post lists it as 3 lakhs, which is likely a typo since this is an ultra-luxury product). Due to its hefty cost, the company will only produce 50 units. This machine is primarily designed for luxury hotels and high-profile spas.

People enjoyed it on social media.

As soon as this video went viral, interesting and funny reactions came from people on social media. While one user compared it to futuristic technology and wrote that 'we got the bath from The Jetsons even before GTA 6 came out', another called it a revolutionary step for the elderly and people with mobility impairments. Meanwhile, there was a lot of laughter and fun, and one user quipped that this is badly needed in offices so that some of his older colleagues can use it. However, not everyone seemed impressed by it; one user described it as a scary experience and wrote that being submerged in water while being enclosed from all sides feels like a nightmare.
